☐ Students: Access your new Loomis Chaffee email account.

Student’s username, password, and login instructions are emailed to their parents after their parents submit the enrollment contract and deposit. New students are encouraged to check their new Loomis Chaffee email by logging into Microsoft Outlook 365.

NOTE: The majority of school communications to students and parents are sent via email. New students should set up their Loomis email account as soon as possible and check it regularly throughout the spring and summer. The school also recommends that parents designate Loomis Chaffee as an approved sender in their SPAM filters.

☐ Students and Parents: Complete course registration online between May 3–17.

On May 3, parents/guardians will receive an email from Tim Lawrence, Dean of Academics and Curriculum, with course registration information, including course descriptions and helpful guidelines. Students and parents should review this information together and complete the online course registration form by May 17.

☐ Students: Have your math and language teachers complete course placement questionnaires before May 24.

On May 1, new students and parents will received an email from the Registrar with more information about the transition to Loomis Chaffee and links to the math and language course placement questionnaires. Please return the form for your current language even if you plan to register for a new language. Email academic_office@loomis.org if you have not taken a modern or classical language at your current school.
 

☐ Students: Complete math and language placement assessments with EduCompass.

On May 4, Michael Anderson, head of the Modern & Classical Languages Department, will email students and parents information about the school’s online language placement assessment. Students will receive a link to the assessment from EduCompass.

In early June, Lauren Riva, head of the Mathematics Department, will email students taking one of our Algebra 2 or Precalculus courses information about the school’s online math placement assessment from EduCompass. Note that only students in Algebra 2 or Precalculus will need to take a placement test.

You will be notified of placement when schedules are released at the end of August.  

☐ Parents: Arrange to have your child’s current school send their final transcript to the Academic Office by July 1.

A records release form is available below. Please email the Academic Office at academic_office@loomis.org if your school year ends later than July 1.

Final transcripts are necessary for determining placement and any credits for prior courses completed. Parents are encouraged to acquire their own copy of the final transcript as you may have need for it in the coming years.

☐ Parents: Access My BackPack to view student billing information. 

At Loomis, all account information can be accessed online through My BackPack, a password-protected portal. Through this portal you will be able to view your billing statements and the current status of your account, including details of account activity, payments received, and account charges.

Important Business Office Dates

• June 1, 2024: Contractual Binding Deadline. After June 1, 2024, no portion of amounts paid will be refunded, nor will any tuition and other payments outstanding be canceled or voided in the event of absence, suspension, withdrawal, or dismissal from the school or for any other reason.
• July 1, 2024: First tuition payment is due.

☐ Boarding Students: Complete the online Housing Survey by June 15. 

To help us place you in an appropriate room for the 2024–25 school year, we ask incoming boarding students to complete the housing survey linked below by June 15. Students will need to login to complete the survey. (Parents, please do not complete this survey for your child.)

☐ Parents: Access the Magnus Health Portal and complete all requirements by August 1.

☐ Parents: Schedule a physical for your child. Physicals must be completed after March 1, 2024, for the 2024–25 school year.

Loomis Chaffee uses Magnus Health, a simple and secure online software to collect, track, and manage student health information. You can access Magnus Health through the Veracross Parent Portal, or through the link below. Your login credentials for Veracross and Magnus are the same ones you used to access the enrollment contract.

In May, parents/guardians will receive an email from Director of Health Services Carolyn Jarvis with information about health requirements for 2024–25.

☐ Students: Complete the online ImPACT assessment (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing).

Loomis Chaffee uses an innovative concussion management program for our students. The program is called ImPACT (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) and involves an online assessment that students take every two years. All new students as well as returning juniors are required to take the baseline assessment prior to the start of the school year.

Kevin Agostini, head athletic trainer, will email a link to the assessment to all new students in July. 

☐ Students and Parents: Complete the form below if you intend to attain a visa in order to attend Loomis Chaffee and will need an I-20 from our institution.

If the student is a US citizen or has a permanent resident card, they do not need to complete this form.

☐ Students and Parents: Read and review the 2024–25 Student Handbook.

The 2024–25 Student Handbook will be available in August. In the meantime, the 2023–24 Student Handbook is linked below for reference. Questions can be directed to the student deans.

☐ Students: Complete your summer reading.

Summer reading information will be available in late May/early June. All new and returning students will have three Summer Reading requirements:

☐ Students: Submit your book chat selection by August 15.

All students participate in a Book Chat at the start of the school year. The chats are facilitated by faculty and organized around popular topics of interest. Before school starts, students will receive instructions for signing up for their book chat.
