Health Center
The Gwendolen Health Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week while school is in session. It is located on the ground floor of Richmond Hall and has three exam rooms and 12 patient beds. For routine care, students can walk in or set up an appointment during business hours. More urgent care is available 24 hours a day. There is a nurse practitioner on site weekdays 8 a.m.–4 p.m. The school's attending physician is on site three days a week and on call at all times while school is in session. In addition to treating students on campus, our practitioners refer students to physicians in the area, as needed.
Health Insurance
Loomis Chaffee requires that all students have U.S. based health insurance with a U.S. claims phone number and address, and that parents upload the insurance information in Magnus. It is the responsibility of the parents to confirm that the student’s health insurance coverage is accepted in the state of Connecticut. It is up to the family to determine if they have adequate coverage, and families are responsible for all medical expenses, such as prescriptions, lab fees, and treatment costs outside the Loomis Chaffee Health Center. Both international and domestic plans are available for purchase through the school. Travel policies are not accepted.
Magnus Health
Loomis Chaffee uses Magnus Health, a simple and secure online software to collect, track, and manage student health information. You can access Magnus Health through the Veracross Parent Portal, or through the link below. More information about the health information the school requires is made available during new student enrollment and returning student reenrollment.
