Our Summer Program attracts talented and enthusiastic aspiring educators for an authentic boarding school faculty experience. This internship provides professional development under the mentorship of our Intern Coordinator along with the opportunity to gain experience across the spectrum of roles that boarding school faculty maintain throughout an academic year. The Summer Program administration also maintains a career-long network of Summer Program faculty and interns, past and present, with whom participants can exchange ideas and raise awareness about opportunities at their respective schools.
The intern roles include:
- teaching assistants in the equivalent of two classes;
- live in a dormitory to provide supervision and facilitate residential life programming;
- serve as an advisor and mentor to a small group of students;
- coach afternoon recreational sports/activities;
- supervise evening study hall and other like duties; and
- chaperone excursions.

The success of our summer program starts with administrators, faculty, and interns who feel compelled to support one another while nurturing students who seek a learning community that expands their worldview and imbues an authentic sense of belonging. We seek a diverse cohort of aspiring educators who demonstrate foresight, gregariousness, industriousness, passion for learning, and curiosity about teaching. We prefer that the applicant be a current college junior, senior, or graduate student.
To apply for the position, prospective interns must submit:
- the faculty intern application form;
- two letters of reference, one of which must be from an official (professor, administrator, or coach) from their college;
- a cover letter;
- a résumé; and
- an official transcript.
All employees of the school must undergo a pre-employment background check. A member of our Human Resources team will contact prospective interns who have been offered the position to walk them through the process. The Faculty Intern position will include a competitive salary, dormitory housing, and meals in the school’s dining hall.
